Designed to Bridge Career Pathways and Military Recruiting
Columbia Recruiting Battalion in
partnership with S.C. Department of Education, the private sector and the other
Armed Services represented by the Air Force and will host over 100 South
Carolina educators for a three day program called Military Career Pathways 101 (MCP
101) June 17-19.
MCP 101was created to provide a forum for teachers,
guidance/career counselors and military personnel to identify resources that
facilitate military career paths. It will include breakout sessions, discussion
panels and tours of Fort Jackson and Shaw Air Force Base.
“The goal of MCP 101 is
to improve military recruiter and educator relations and create understanding
that the military offers viable career options in all sixteen career paths,” Lt.
Col. Michael Standish, Columbia Recruiting Battalion Commander said. “The
future of our country depends on collaboration between educators, the private
sector, and military personnel committed to ethically advising students with
accurate information about the Armed Services. We want the educators to take
the information they learn and empower their students to make conscious and
informed decisions about their futures.”
Key career specialists from the Army will be joined by
representatives from the Association of Career and Technical Education, the
National Consortium for State Guidance Leadership and the Office of Vocational
and Adult Education, U.S. Department of Education.
Educators attending the three day series will earn
continuing education credits towards their recertification.
