Vietnam Traveling Wall in Sumter, S.C. Memorial Day Weekend

The Iris Festival Commission in Sumter, S.C., would like to extend an invitation to all retirees, service members, dependents and civilians within the tri-state area to visit the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall.

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be coming to Sumter during Memorial Day weekend and will be open concurrently with the Sumter Iris Festival. The wall will arrive on May 23 and will reside here until May 28.

There will be an official dedication ceremony Friday May 24th at 5:30 p.m. The wall will be open to the public over the course of the weekend, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday through Monday.

The traveling wall itself is a 300 foot 3/5 scale replica of the memorial wall that stands in Washington D.C.  The wall’s appearance in Sumter marks the only planned stop in the state of South Carolina for 2013.

Please assist us in the spreading the word to your local retirees, service members, dependents and communities regarding this great occasion.
